Based on a cooperation with George Mason University
and funds from Andrew Mellon Foundation in New York, our Center established an
Internet Laboratory and started in December 1995 a series of on-line free
introductory courses on network communication. The courses (lasting 3 full
days) were taught by the researchers of the Center. The attendees are
researchers from the Institutes of Romanian Academy. The courses organised in
1996 were attended by more than 200 participans; with the same rate per year,
we will have at the end of the next year 650 graduates from these training
courses. The lecture notes,"Introducere

Centre engineer specialists (Acad. Gheorghe Tecuci, Dr. Dan Tufis, Dr. Stefan
Trăusan-Matu, Lorina Negreanu, Dana Trifănescu, Silviu Călinoiu, Cristina
