ICIA, a RO AI Factory partner

“Mihai Drăgănescu” Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence – Announcement on Participation in the RO AI Factory Project

The “Mihai Drăgănescu” Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (ICIA) announces its participation, as a partner, in the RO AI Factory project — a strategic initiative designed to transform Romania’s small and medium-sized enterprises from mere technology users into active innovators in the field of artificial intelligence.

Through the RO AI Factory, the focus will be on skills development, access to advanced infrastructures, and the provision of specialized services that support the responsible adoption and development of AI technologies.

The project is hosted and co-coordinated in Bucharest by the  the National Institute for Research & Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest with University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB) , and brings together a consortium of prestigious partners: the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN), the National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences (INCDSB), the Transilvania IT Association  (ATIT), the Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (ICIA), the National Council of Small and Medium Sized Private Enterprises in Romania  (CNIPMMR), and the Association of Romanian Digital Innovation Hubs (RoDIH).

RO AI Factory will implement a supercomputer dedicated to artificial intelligence applications, offering a comprehensive suite of services — from access to HPC infrastructure and support for developing and training AI models, to hosting data spaces, algorithm libraries, and tools for safe, responsible, and trustworthy artificial intelligence.

Through this initiative, ICIA will contribute, alongside its partners, to strengthening the national research and innovation ecosystem in AI, fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and the public sector to advance sustainable and ethical artificial intelligence in Romania.
